Programme Requirements / Qualification Profile of the Graduate

The course enables students to develop competences for different types of design work from applied arts to product design. It aims at providing a comprehensive theoretical and application oriented practical education leading to an independent artistic position and enabling students to become established in the fields of applied arts and product design. Thanks to the cooperation with partners in research as well as in the industry and in trade and thanks to the integrated internship of one semester, for which students can choose a national or international business, students gain the knowledge and know-how for a successful career start. Course units from the fields of marketing, management and law foster the understanding of the entrepreneurial perspective. Students gain valuable experience which will help them to deal with the competition on the labour market through presentations at trade fairs and exhibitions as well as the participation in competitions, which are part of the programme. Students are enabled to work independently and creatively; and after completing this course, they will be able to work on differentiated design projects in a problem, time and target oriented manner.

Design of models and collections for different lines as single piece or for series production, Fashion art objects (Fashion Art), Pattern design and clothing technology (manually und CAD), Fashion illustration – Mixed Media (different techniques), Product documentation and presentation, Knitting, Materials science

Bachelor of Arts - B. A. (UAS)

Field of activity

The graduate can start his/her career as a freelancer or in the fashion industry. He/she can also work as a designer for theatre or television. Graduates can choose to work in fashion illustration, fashion editoring, fashion buying or computer-pattern making.
