Study program Design

Design B. A.

In the study program Design B. A. design, students are trained for unique handicraft as well as industrial series with high design and technical qualifications.
The courses are characterized by a close link between the design process and product realization. Computer pools and workshops support both from the first idea to the finished prototype.
Through cooperation with practical partners from research, industry and trade, and especially through the integrated practical semester, which is completed in national and international companies, students gain knowledge and skills for a successful entry into professional life.

Design M. A.

The master's degree program forces a deeper intellectual and creative examination of the contents of the bachelor's degree program. The aim is to train creative and competent designers with both high design and excellent technical qualifications who are able to initiate, design and coordinate design processes in responsible positions. This is the aim of the close curricular link between the design process and product realization as well as the substantially project-oriented teaching. The reference to production and market, research and science results in a broad and diverse professional profile for artistic (freelance) as well as industry-oriented activity profiles.

The program allows students to focus on their individual interests in both experimental artistic and industry-oriented areas. In differentiated design projects, students are enabled on the one hand to work independently and creatively and on the other hand to work on design tasks in an artistic-creative and/or industrial context in a problem-, time- and goaloriented manner. Cooperation with partners from industry, art and research is an integral part of the course.

The design studies are accompanied by intensive teaching of artistic fundamentals, which provide students with important skills in various areas of visual representation and presentation. Market economy and design theory seminars as well as subject-specific workshops deepen an understanding of design in the context of cultural and media trends, taking into account ecological, sociological and economic factors.
